My bank uses Check Free for their on line bill pay. I have experienced issues when Check Free did not pay the bill on the date requested and lost payments. If you want to resolve the issue, the only method you can use is sending an inquiry over the internet. Check Free will NOT give you a phone number to contact them. I had made a payment to one of Atlanta’s largest hospitals that was lost for more than 2 months. Check Free was given the information to contact the hospital so they could resolve the issue. Mind you, Check Free had taken the money from my checking account 2 months earlier, but they delayed resolving the issue because they said no one answered the phone at St. Joseph’s hospital. Check Free’s corporate headquarters is in Atlanta, as is St; Joseph’s hospital. Anyone old enough to work should be able to call a hospital in their same town, but Check Free was unable to do so. Let me add, I have spoken with the hospital several times and never experienced the problem Check Free is apparently having. How many times did they call? I don’t know. You cannot depend on Check Free to pay your bills when you request. You cannot depend on Check Free to follow up with issues. And you will not get an opportunity to speak with someone at Check Free, as they will not post their phone number on the banks website. In some instances Check Free subtracts money from your account when they pay the bill, and in other instances they apparently use their money to pay a bill and then debit your bank account later. It is difficult to balance your account to any specific time under this method. In an effort to get my problem resolved I asked my bank to help. They were met with the same poor customer service from Check Free. No one will return their calls. In all my years of using the same services with larger banks, I never had a problem, because they did not use Check Free. Because of this repeated issue I am planning on changing banks to a larger bank so I never have to use Check Free again. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for Check Free to tell me what they did with my money more than two months ago.
