We had Wawa for our home and all of our autos. Then our teen started driving. At first, while she was on a learners permit, she was excluded from our cars. No problem, as she used the schools car anyways! She practiced with a parent for a year. A few months after she got her license, we got her a car for Christmas. We called Wawa and told them, we know she’s excluded from our cars, so we got her her own car. Please insure her on it. They stated it would be under our insurance still, as she was not quite 18. When she was 18, she could apply on her own. “But she’s covered, right”? “YES, but only on her car”.
She had a fender bender the other day. We called Wawa. They immediately stated she was excluded form her car!!! We went round and round on this, but they would not relent. We just recvd a Notice of Non-Renewal for the entire policy! They stated we signed a form agreeing to her being excluded on our cars. We did, dated 2 weeks BEFORE we even bought her car! That’s why we bought her a car of her own and insured just her on it.
So they kept saying we signed the exclusion notice. How can they justify a signed document being applicable on a future issue? They know damn well we DID NOT sign regarding a car WE DID NOT EVEN OWN at the time! It’s preposterous! We asked that they pull the recording from the call on the day we added her car. They stated it was not recorded. They even agree the signed exclusionwas dated 12-4 and the new policy for daughter’s car was added on 12-19! Does this make sense?
We told them we wanted nothing. The car was cheap and already junked. We did not want a replacement or any sort of claim. Just continue covering us. They would not listen or approach any discussion of the issue whatsoever. Stone wall.
Now we have to go through Assigned Risk Plan through the State Ins., as we are rated as high risk! We will have to sell our RV, as we can not afford to insure it now. We have to sell our motorcycles and 2 cars, as well. We have to go through an attorney, if we want to fight this. How much is that gonna cost?
We have lost a lot! All for what? What did they gain from this? What would they have had to do? What would they have lost? NOTHING. We asked for nothing. No repairs, claims, NOTHING. Now we are begging for them to just not list us as high risk!
God forbid a rain storm comes and our carpet got wet! I wonder if they would have refused a claim, stating it was an act of God?
Just to have the “Privilege” of signing up with them, I had to sit down for 1 hour and do all of the sign up paper work myself and figure the policy payment table and the amounts of coverage and the insurance industry jargon with out any help whatsoever. When I sent it all in with a check, they called me and told me I had done it all wrong. I then had to wait for them to mail it all back and I had to start all over. It wound up taking over 2 months to get my policies in force! There are no agents to do that for you. I guess they have no agents to help after an accident, either! If you don’t mind getting thrown off the deep end and sinking or swimming-all on your own; or if your an insurance whiz, go for it. Wawanesa’s your kind of company.
I will now be using someone else for my Homeowners, obviously!
