In September of 2006 I opened an account with NFCU on the recommendation of one of my financial advisors. Great company he told me, great place to keep some money. So as I was funds limited at the time, I put only $300 into a savings account, and elected to do all transactions electronically as a means of saving paper. As I only had a small amount in the account, I didn’t check it for a few months, then when I tried to access my account online, I realized I’d forgotten my password and I managed to lock up the account due to failed logon attempts. Time went by, I’d get an email saying a new account statement was ready to view electronically, but the account was locked and I just didn’t bother to call to get it unlocked. So part of this was my fault.

My mother developed Alzheimer’s disease a few years ago. Her husband (my step-father) had to place her in an Alzheimer’s center for her safety. When he passed away I was added to her Wamu account as conservator. When she passed away, our attorney sent court papers naming me as executor. My wife and I went into Wamu and tried to change the account to executor. We thought it would be simple because we had the court papers and changing from conservator to executor, must be a very common event.

I was clearing out my e-mail inbox this morning and *panicked* when I noticed that I had forgotten to pay my car insurance. It was exactly 5:01 pm on Saturday, so I figured my policy had been canceled and I was a goner. I crossed my fingers and ran to the phone to call Geico . . .
I dialed, pressed 1 for the “auto insurance” option and a very nice woman picked up. Zero time on hold! Of course, I had forgotten to find my policy number, and I got married so my last name had changed. I was dreading what would happen next, but she said, “No problem, I can look it up by your phone number,” and proceeded to do so.

a.k.a. GEMB, GE Moneybank, GE Money, CareCredit, Kwik Comfort, JC Penney Credit.
The first thing to do is go to www.complaintsboard.com. Do a search on CareCredit, GEMB of GE Moneybank. You will notice they have a running scam.
1) Their offer is for interest free financing if the balance is paid in full after x-months, usually 24.

Twelve years ago I opened up my first “grown up” checking account at a Washington Mutual branch near the university I was about to begin attending. At the time, Washington Mutual was mostly a local bank. It had yet to become the object of nationwide detest that it is now. My experience with Washington Mutual has been so pleasant that in those twelve years I have had several types of accounts with WAMU: checking, savings, business checking, certificate of deposit, auto loan and home equity lines of credit, all with satisfying results.
