When my wife and I had our first kid back in July we (among other things) reevaluated our financial needs and our current life insurance. After determining that my wife needed to up her term life insurance we started shopping around online for the best prices and the best options.
About four weeks later we’ve completed our application process and have received her policy from Prudential. While I certainly hope I’ll never have to actually use the policy, I’m definitely confident that we made the right choice with life insurance.

My husband is from Ecuador and still has a lot of family down there, which means that we have to journey down there every couple years. Now that we have to buy four full-price tickets (and will soon need to buy five), we figured we should try to take advantage of a credit card that will give us frequent flier miles. The first one my husband tried was Bank Of America’s Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan credit card. Our reasons for choosing this card were simple: I usually flew Alaska to visit family in Arizona, it is a partner airline of American, which can get us to Ecuador, and they offered my husband 10,000 bonus miles to sign up for the card. After a couple of years, he convinced me to sign up for the card too. I’m glad I did.

The “Help Card” -under the marketing of HC Processing Center- is a credit card of sorts that many companies utilise, to issue their consumers credit. I originally opened up this card at a bed sales store w/ 0% interest, if paid in 90 days.

I have been with Amex since 2004. Platinum in the United Kingdom and then in the States when I moved for work and then after spending over $300,000 in a one-year period, I was invited to become a Centurion member. I had heard a lot about the card, was intrigued about it, and accepted the invitation even though it comes with a $5,000 (NON REFUNDABLE) deposit and then a fee of $2,500 per year. So in the 1st year, it will set you back $7,500 and you don’t even have a Starbucks to show for it!

My husband’s job relocated us in June. Our former bank did not have a bank branch that was convenient to our new home. Friends gave us such a commercial for Sun Trust that we decided to go talk with them.

Credit card offers are a common occurrence at my household. I expect to find at least one in my mail every day, and its not uncommon to find five or more offers on a single trip to mail box. The most common offer of all is, of course, an offer from the place that you do your primary banking and this is what led me to try out the Washington Mutual Platinum MasterCard, a credit card with appealing balance transfer offers.

Hi there,
Schlamozzel here with another Slumlord Brand (TM) review to round out the “Big Three” in the category of “Bombastic Blundering Bunk-mongering Insurance Companies”. Will you all please raise your toilet lids and give a “Royal Flush” to TIAA CREF Insurance Annuities.
As many of you my friends and return readers know I have “fairly-recently” lost my last remaining parent. Dealing with that issue of “life progression” as I call it is difficult enough. I’m at a time in my life when some ease and peace of mind would be tremendously appreciated. But in dealing with the “stone-walls” at TIAA CREF Insurance Annuities it has become plainly apparent I will have to forego that little dream.

I’ve had many credit cards over the years, but this one has always given me the best service and options. I got it right out of college and it’s been nothing but a smooth ride for twenty years. I carry other cards at the moment, but this is the only one that I use, and I use it for as much as I can. If I could use it to pay for everything, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Customer service is quick to help you with whatever you need and has been great about explaining different options available for the cards over the years.
I remember making the transition from Citibank Visa to Citibank MasterCard several years ago, and it was virtually seamless. Same thing with the cash back rewards card account. They even let me keep my old number so I didn’t have to change it with my automatic payments.

Hi there,
Schlamozzel here with another Slumlord Brand (TM) review from along the long LONG road of dealing with the death of a family member. Today we have a nerve-shattering visit with “The Sound of Silence-Company” better known as Northwestern Mutual Life.
As many of my faithful friends and readers know I had lost my father a while ago. Being left behind amid a plethora of “details” was something I myself had not really figured into the equation of “family loss”. Through our lives we are exposed to video images and verbal advertisments from insurance companies and money managers. All of which tout how well taken care of a decedent’s remaining loved ones will be, should they choose to partake of the products and or services that they “sell”. We see images of some nicely dressed, clean-shaven person cheerfully handing a benefit check to comforted people with smiling faces.
