Schlamozzel here with another Slumlord Brand (TM) review from along the long LONG road of dealing with the death of a family member. Today we have a nerve-shattering visit with “The Sound of Silence-Company” better known as Northwestern Mutual Life.

As many of my faithful friends and readers know I had lost my father a while ago. Being left behind amid a plethora of “details” was something I myself had not really figured into the equation of “family loss”. Through our lives we are exposed to video images and verbal advertisments from insurance companies and money managers. All of which tout how well taken care of a decedent’s remaining loved ones will be, should they choose to partake of the products and or services that they “sell”. We see images of some nicely dressed, clean-shaven person cheerfully handing a benefit check to comforted people with smiling faces.

What you never do see, however, is the cold hard reality of what it takes to get the death benefits paid out to the beneficiaries. Thus is the story of my experiences with Northwestern Mutual Life.

Northwestern Mutual Life is a multi-faceted financial services and insurance products company. They offer life, disability, long term care and employee insurances. How well this works / My experiences with this company

This will most likely be the very shortest review I have ever written.

These people were contacted nearly 1 month ago. In that time the only information we have been given is that my MOTHER (whom pre-deceased my father by almost 21 years) needs to contact them. Indeed we WELL informed them of this fact, complete with DEATH CERTIFICATE IN HAND. However, they insist she is very much still alive.

Upon learning of her miraculous re-entry into earthly life from this “Quiet Company”, I have asked that they inform me by which means my late mother shall contact them. Would they prefer a “spiritual medium” or perhaps “a grave-robbing ventriloquist”. Apparently their decision is pending, since they have STILL not returned any further calls.

In the meantime, the “investment fund” my late father left has suffered a substantial loss. One which could have been avoided if the request to cash-out the fund were honored IMMEDIATELY! Run silent…. run DEEP IN THE HOLE!
