I have been a Paytrust customer for over 4 years, and have just cancelled my account.I was mostly happy with them for much of my time as a customer. Their website leaves much to be desired, but the service worked. The problem all started when I tried to switch funding accounts.

So, to add a bank account to Paytrust, they go through a similar process to many others (Paypal, et al) where they deposit two small amounts to your account, and you type those numbers into their website to verify account ownership. I initiated this process on my new account, and closed the old account.

The microdeposits never went through. I put most bills on hold there and paid them manually attempting to resolve the issue through their customer support. I added and re-added the account multiple times, all to no avail. During these attempts at resolution, they attempted to charge my monthly fee to an account that was closed.

It bounced. They then claimed that I owed them a $20 bounce fee plus the monthly fee. The best part, I could now no longer attempt to re-add the funding account that actually had my money in it. They then re-attempted this charge 3 times per day for the next 3 days, charging me a fee every time.

They now claim that I owe them $200, and will place a negative mark on my credit if I don’t pay it.

I cancelled my account, but at the end of the day I’ll probably end up helpless against their attempts to steal money from me. The $200 isn’t worth the bad mark on my credit.

Paytrust is dishonest, hard to work with, their customer service is completely unhelpful, and they have only their pocketbooks in mind. This service is absolutely terrible, and by using it you put yourself in a potential blackmail situation that I find myself in now.

Stay away, very very far away.
