I bought a policy from Travelex (TravelLite) for myself and my two children (adding them was free with my policy) for a 3 week trip to Alaska to visit family. We had no health insurance at all at the time and i wanted to be sure if anything happened we’d be covered.

My daughter woke up one morning with what we thought might be appendicitis. I called Travelex and told them we’d find a local doctor, they said fine and let them know what happened. We found one who could see her and he too thought it might be appendicitis. So he sent us to a surgeon for a consult. That surgeon determined that is was most likely NOT appendicitis and sent us home with instructions to watch for certain things.

Both doctors were willing to take Travelex insurance as payment after speaking directly with Travelex by phone - I didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket at all.

A few days after I got home I got a claim form and letter from Travelex. I had a question about one part of the form, called them and got a prompt answer. I completed the form and mailed it.

That was IT. They paid the doctors and even followed up to see how my daughter was doing.

I was so impressed I felt I had to write a review here because I used this site to help me choose a travel insurance company when I was shopping for one. I have bought another policy from them for an upcoming trip to Jamaica.
