My mother developed Alzheimer’s disease a few years ago. Her husband (my step-father) had to place her in an Alzheimer’s center for her safety. When he passed away I was added to her Wamu account as conservator. When she passed away, our attorney sent court papers naming me as executor. My wife and I went into Wamu and tried to change the account to executor. We thought it would be simple because we had the court papers and changing from conservator to executor, must be a very common event.

I was clearing out my e-mail inbox this morning and *panicked* when I noticed that I had forgotten to pay my car insurance. It was exactly 5:01 pm on Saturday, so I figured my policy had been canceled and I was a goner. I crossed my fingers and ran to the phone to call Geico . . .
I dialed, pressed 1 for the “auto insurance” option and a very nice woman picked up. Zero time on hold! Of course, I had forgotten to find my policy number, and I got married so my last name had changed. I was dreading what would happen next, but she said, “No problem, I can look it up by your phone number,” and proceeded to do so.

a.k.a. GEMB, GE Moneybank, GE Money, CareCredit, Kwik Comfort, JC Penney Credit.
The first thing to do is go to www.complaintsboard.com. Do a search on CareCredit, GEMB of GE Moneybank. You will notice they have a running scam.
1) Their offer is for interest free financing if the balance is paid in full after x-months, usually 24.

Twelve years ago I opened up my first “grown up” checking account at a Washington Mutual branch near the university I was about to begin attending. At the time, Washington Mutual was mostly a local bank. It had yet to become the object of nationwide detest that it is now. My experience with Washington Mutual has been so pleasant that in those twelve years I have had several types of accounts with WAMU: checking, savings, business checking, certificate of deposit, auto loan and home equity lines of credit, all with satisfying results.

As a younger adult, you wonder how to improve your credit score or ever get credit if no one will trust you to give you credit! Many start out with student loans right off the bat and take a hit when circumstances happen along the way. I have learned of a few things to help and a few things that hurt credit scores that you would not believe! Now in this age of economy woes, many families are being hard hit with gas and food prices making paying off debts lower on their list of priorities.

I am a fan of American Express premium credit cards. I upgraded to Gold years ago and am seriously considering a second upgrade to a Platinum Express Card. There are some times, however, when a consumer chooses to carry a balance longer than a month. They want a credit card, not a charge card.
The difference is that a charge, like the American Express Gold Card or similar offerings, are paid in full each month. A credit card is like the typical MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card. American Express charge cards offer a “Sign and Travel” feature for bigger purchases, but American Express has also introduced the very successful Amex Blue credit card.

I’ve had USAA accounts for many years now, and have consolidated my 401K to IRA accounts to them as I changed jobs over the years. All of my transactions have gone very smoothly and effortlessly. When I didn’t know much of anything about trading, or investing, they seemed very helpful to me.
However, as I’ve matured as an investor I’ve learned that:
A) They don’t tell you anything about your account options when you initiate a rollover. Unless you specifically ask for a brokerage account, they will roll you into one of their extremely limited mutual fund accounts.
